ESTATE ADMINISTRATION PROCESS

Petition For Letter Of Administration

1)  The Trust Officer will collect all the relevant documents.

2)  The Trust Officer will ascertain assets and liabilities and beneficiaries

3)  The Trust Officer will ensure that all adult beneficiaries to sign the Renunciation form and consent to BHLB Trustee applying for L.A.

4)  The Trust Officer will prepare a list of assets and liabilities and the list of beneficiaries and send them together with the death certificate and Renunciation Form to BHLB Trustee's Solicitors.

5)  The Trust Officer will instruct the BHLB Trustee's Solicitors to prepare Petition for L.A.

6)  The Trust Officer or an authorized signatory will sign the Petition and return it to the BHLB Trustee's Solicitors for filling in the High Court.

7)  The authorized signatory will attend court on the date fixed for hearing of the Petition.

8)  The Trust Officer will instruct the BHLB Trustee's Solicitors to extract the Grant of L.A. and obtain a few certified copies.

9)  The Trustee Manager will publish notice for claims in the Government Gazette before distributions.

10) After receiving the Grant, the Trustee Manager will take steps to realise all assets and settle the debts and liabilities.

11) The Trustee Officer will distribute the residuary estate to the beneficiaries in accordance with the provisions of the Distribution Act 1958. If Muslims estate is managed, the Trustee Manager will obtain the certificate of inheritance from the Kathi before distribution.

The Trustee Manager will instruct the Accounts Department to prepare full accounts of administration and distribute to the beneficiaries at the time when payment is made to them.
